To Our Nearest & Dearest,

IN LATE MARCH 2020, we realized the Chicago wedding we had imagined and planned might not become a reality - at least not any time soon. Over many late nights and mozzarella sticks, we workshopped new ideas until we finally landed on one that felt equally doable and magical: getting married in Ali's parents' backyard. Ever gracious, positive, and supportive, Mike and Paula agreed, and September 12, 2020 slowly became our new dream.

And what a dreamy day it was! We cannot begin to express how grateful we are for this opportunity to celebrate amidst the craziness that is 2020. Absolutely none of it would have been possible without the support of you, our friends and family, helping us setup the reception (sometimes multiple times over!), creating our tablescapes and party favors, arranging bouquets for our bridal party, and simply spending time and energy putting together the most perfect day possible. And at the forefront of that perfection was our menu! Our wedding simply would not have been anywhere near as wonderful without the amazing food created by the most talented Mother of the Bride, Paula.

When we first began planning this mini-wedding, Paula continuously said, "We can do this," and oh boy, did she mean it. After much research, she declared she could and would cater the wedding. Paula put so much time and love into designing the most delicious small-plates wedding dinner, and after watching (and eating) her work, I think we can all agree that she could be a professional wedding caterer! But as many of you know, cooking isn't Paula's only strength - she is also known for including her family and being extremely resourceful. So with the additions of Steve, Ali's Aunt Jane & Uncle Peter, (a few local St. Louis staples), and many family and friends' help, our dinner was born. As a tribute to them, to you our guests, and to all those who helped us be our own wedding caterers, we give you this recipe book filled with delightfully delicious memories.
